Nehemiah 4:7-23
When Sanballat and Tobiah heard that the work was going
forward, they developed a strategy against the Jewish people: to fight and to
throw them into confusion. Wiersbe’s comments on the passage tell us to know
who our true enemy is in our lives and in God’s work. Of course we know that
the enemy is Satan, but he often uses human means to accomplish his work (Transformation Study Bible). Nehemiah’s initial response was to pray, but
he also took every precaution that he could.
Nehemiah reminded his people of the awesome power of God and then
commanded them to fight for the right, i.e. the glory of God. They continued to
work on the wall but remained battle ready.
About God: He is
awesome and powerful and equips us for battle.
My response: To know who my true enemy is and to allow God
to quip me for battle.
