Nehemiah Seeks God

Nehemiah 1:4-11
Nehemiah, cup bearer to the king of Persia, received word of the distress of the expatriate Jews back in Jerusalem and commenced to weep, pray and fast.  As he prayed, he extolled the attributes of God relative to the situation. He praised the LORD for His greatness, for His awesomeness, for His covenant keeping, and for His steadfast love directed toward His faithful ones. His prayer continued as he confessed his own sins and the sins of His people.  He also prayed the promise that Judah would be returned to the land at the completion of seventy years. Then he asked for mercy and favor in the eyes of the king and for success in his proposed mission – to rebuild the walls.
What have I learned about God? He is great. He is awesome. He keeps His promises.
He demonstrates steadfast love toward His faithful ones.
Prayer principle: I should bring my desperation  to God and trust Him to act.
